COMMUNIQUE OF THE STATE EXECUTIVE/STAKEHOLDERS MEETING OF THE OSUN STATE CHAPTER OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES GRAND ALLIANCE (APGA OSUN) HELD AT THE PARTY SECRETARIAT ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2025
The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA Osun) convened its State Executive/Stakeholders Meeting on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at the party secretariat in Osogbo, Osun State. After an extensive deliberation on various issues affecting the party, the state, and the nation at large, the following resolutions were adopted:
1. APGA Osun commends the National Chairman of the party, Barr. Sylvester Ezeokenwa, for his dynamic leadership, commitment to repositioning the party, upgrading the face of the party, recruitment of new members through the ongoing electronic membership registration exercise, and preparation of the party for future elections across the country.
2. The party lauds the National Leader of APGA, His Excellency Governor Charles Soludo, for his unwavering support towards the party and the transformative governance in Anambra State, which continues to serve as a model for APGA's development blueprint across the nation.
3. APGA Osun strongly condemns the recent violence that erupted as a result of the local government takeover crisis between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC). The party mourns the loss of lives and sympathizes with the families of the deceased, while calling for justice and accountability.
4. The party urges President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the lingering local government takeover crisis in Osun State, which has resulted in avoidable loss of lives and destruction of properties. APGA appeals for a peaceful resolution in the interest of the people.
5. APGA Osun condemns the biased role played by the Nigerian Police Force during the local government takeover crisis. The party describes their actions as one-sided, urging the police to remain neutral, professional, and committed to protecting the lives and properties of all citizens without favoring any political party.
6. APGA Osun commends Governor Ademola Adeleke for the prompt payment of pensioners' monthly pensions and workers' salaries, urging him to sustain this commendable gesture as part of his administration’s commitment to workers' welfare.
7. The party calls on Governor Ademola Adeleke to ensure the protection of the lives and properties of non-indigenes residing in Osun State, emphasizing the importance of fostering peace, unity, and inclusivity among all residents.
8. APGA Osun charges the Nigerian Police Force to live up to its constitutional responsibilities by being impartial and professional in discharging its duties. The party calls on the police not to serve as messengers of any political party but to treat all political actors equally.
9. APGA Osun urges Governor Ademola Adeleke to prioritize investments in critical sectors such as Education, Security, Health, Agriculture, and Infrastructure to improve the living standards of the citizens and drive sustainable development in the state.
10. The party commends the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Mutiu Agboke, for his proactive sensitization and preparation ahead of the 2026 Governorship election in the state. The party urges INEC to maintain transparency and fairness throughout the electoral process.
11. APGA Osun encourages members of the public to take advantage of the ongoing electronic membership registration exercise to join the party. The registration exercise is part of the party's strategy to expand its membership base and enhance grassroots participation.
12. APGA Osun appeals to all members and stakeholders of the party to remain united, committed, and steadfast in upholding the party’s philosophy of being their brothers' and sisters' keepers as the party prepares for future elections.
13. The party advocates for more government-driven initiatives aimed at empowering youth and women, emphasizing their critical role in the socio-economic development of the state.
14. APGA Osun reiterates its stance against corruption, injustice, and bad governance in all forms, urging the government at all levels to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance.
15. APGA Osun reaffirms its commitment to participating actively in the forthcoming 2026 Governorship Election, while calling on all party members to work in unity towards the success of the party.
